Our Team

Our team is small, to date, but share a deep passion for proclaiming the Gospel and leading our nation to a place of healing, by putting God first.

The Matlock Family

Meet Jesse and Mary Matlock. They met at church in 2005, married in 2007, and have three wonderful children. Originally from Thailand and from a Buddhist background, Mary's conversion to Christianity has been integral to their story. They are both passionate about serving youth, young adults, and families. They feel blessed to share God's grace by spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ.

In hindsight, they see the grace and covering of God in their lives, even before their salvation. Their love for what Christ has done makes them passionate about proclaiming the power of the Gospel to others. In Acts 20:24, Paul speaks to the Ephesian elders, telling them to "keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers." By sharing the grace of God, given through Jesus Christ, they believe that many will recognize and respond to His love and mercy for them. They hope to live out their faith in a way that will inspire and encourage others to do the same.

In 2017 hey purchased a beautiful 43-acre parcel and founded Vertex Ranch & Camp Zion. It's an amazing place where people can come to learn about God and their identity in Christ. We are so grateful for their commitment and dedication to serving God by serving others, and we thank them for their hard work and dedication in making Vertex Ranch & Camp Zion a reality.

A personal message from Jesse and Mary:

We are incredibly excited to witness God's Sovereign will and plan come to life at Vertex Ranch! It's incredible to see how far the camp has come since its inception, and we're thankful for the Stum Family's partnership and support. We look forward to seeing the camp reach its full potential with the development of the Hearth Pavillion, Event Center, Challenge Courses, and Lodging. We also look forward to the camp's impact on youth, families, and our communities in the coming years. We are confident that with God's leading and equipping, our team will bring glory to God.

The Stum Family

Our names are David and Lisa Stum, and we have been married for 20 years. We have two amazing boys, Trevor (13, almost 14)and Brady (10). David is in sales with Motorola Solutions, and Lisa is a teacher in Prosper ISD. As a couple, we have been involved in a variety of youth camps throughout the years as both workers and directors. We have had the privilege of hearing the vision the Matlocks have for the camp, and we have been blessed to be part of formulating the vision and laying the foundation for what God has planned for it now and in the future.
